Hephaistos in Cancer
The Forge in Cancer

Hephaistos is what you forge out of being cast out. Where this asteroid sits is where injury, disability or exclusion pushed you into making things — and where what you make is so good that the people who excluded you end up dependent on it. You are the one who builds the tools everyone else uses to win. The shadow is staying in the workshop, arming the people who get the glory, and calling it dignity.

In water, you build to be loved, and are quietly devastated when the work is taken and you are not.

In cardinal mode, you found the workshop and set its terms.

In Cancer this point remembers. Hephaistos attaches craft forged out of injury and exclusion to people, houses, smells, and specific years, and nothing in that archive ever gets marked as resolved. You scan every room for whether you are safe and whether you are wanted, in that order, before you have consciously decided anything. Old hurts here do not fade — they quietly steer choices you are certain were logical.

You were thrown out of the room — by injury, by difference, by family — and you went and learned to make things. Now what you build is so good that the people who excluded you cannot function without it. You are the one who makes the tools other people win with.

Filtered through Cancer, that gift shows up as nurturing, intuitive, protective — and it is most obvious to the people who watch you handle craft forged out of injury and exclusion when you think nobody is measuring.

You stay in the workshop. You arm the people who take the glory, accept being needed instead of wanted, and call that dignity. Meanwhile the resentment goes into the work and comes out as something beautiful and slightly cursed.

Cancer adds its own version of the cost: moodiness and a tendency to withdraw into their shell when hurt. In this part of your chart that is not a personality quirk — it is the specific way Hephaistos goes wrong for you, and it will keep repeating until you name it as yours instead of theirs.

Hephaistos fires when you are left out of something and your hands immediately start planning what to build instead.

The work is walking out of the workshop and standing next to what you made. Being indispensable is not the same as being valued, and only one of those you can ask for.
